so i only make invitations for close friends or like-minded clients (i try to avoid nightmare situations). however, when i do decide to design them i love making them unique! when lauren, a local ceramicist, asked me to illustrate baby shower invitations for danielle (local designer) i was thrilled: a. because lauren and danielle are awesome, b. i love babies, and c. what’s cuter than an illustration of a pregnant lady? lauren told me danielle loves simplicity and neutral colors so after a few brainstorm sessions i came up with these. i illustrated preggo danielle with her messy hair, patterned shirt, cardigan, big glasses, skinny jeans and flats. after scanning the illustration onto my computer i designed the rest of the invitation (which is a square composition, my favorite!) with a modern typeface and lots of blank space (can’t go wrong). the best part, in my opinion, is each piece of paper was dipped in coffee to add a little dimension (and fragrance ?). oh, and the circle cut outs are inserts for her registry information. the envelope is lined with a triangle pattern that matches danielle’s shirt on a pearl sheen text paper. all in all, it was a great project to work on and i’m stoked with the outcome. hope you enjoy!
